Okay, as promised, the first month has passed and here I am with an update.

I feel like I’ve been able to establish the discipline of getting out for a ride regularly. If I can get through these first couple of months - with the short days and poor weather - the rest should be much more manageable. I often work into the early evening, so where possible I’ve been getting rides in during my lunch hour, which has helped a lot. As the months go on and the days get longer, it should be easier to ride after work.

In February I completed 9 rides covering 103 miles, with my longest ride being 16 miles.

The cover photo was taken at Pollok Park in Glasgow on a very dull and rainy day. Overall I feel good and have been finishing each ride feeling like I could do more - which is exactly what ChatGPT recommended.

My focus for March is to avoid the “too much, too soon” trap. The plan will be broadly similar to February, but with a gradual increase in distance — particularly on the weekend ride. I’m aiming for 120–140 miles total for the month, with the longest ride building up to around 30 miles.

March has started a little slowly as I was travelling for business during the first week, but I’ll be back on track next week.
