Time for an update now we’re four months in!
In the month of April I completed 5 rides totalling 113 miles with my longest ride being 41 miles.
I am happy to remain on track by increasing the max ride by 10 miles each month and made a point of increasing elevation this month also, instead of building fitness on flat routes I’ve been doing some local hillier routes and feel like I’m making progress. The cover photo was taken outside the Bowfield Hotel which sits at the top of a local short climb in Howwood, Renfrewshire.
During the month I had the best weather and worst weather - the cover photo was a warm pleasant day wearing shorts and a short sleeve top, however a couple of weeks prior I got caught in heavy rain and hail. I’ve provided a short clip at the bottom of this post showing these conditions, note that I did carry on and complete my cycle even though my home was only a mile or so away.
On my longer cycle I made a point of fuelling properly for the ride and made my own flapjacks. I completed the 41 mile cycle feeling strong and am certain my fuelling strategy played a big part in this. For the month of May, I’ll be looking to cycle more frequently and complete a 50 mile cycle by the end of the month.
Eagle eyed readers may have noticed that I changed my wheels also, when the clocks changed I switched from my gravel tyres to road and opted to try a set of carbon wheels also. If you’d like to hear more about them I’d be happy to share.
As usual, if you’d like to track my rides they are all uploaded to Strava.
